Inspirational Poem: Union
Bare trees stand naked in the cool, winter light.
Dry and cracking roads stretch on from the stinging temperatures
stroking its obliging pathways.
The starving grass, a mere shadow in its muddy, brown exposure
struggles to shed the frosty dew that clings each morning.
Houses shift inward from the biting air
staining the earth with misplaced stiffness.
Enlarged clouds traveling across, sigh with the kiss of the sun
and supple snowflakes cascade from the heavens.
Tickling the ground with their individuality and connection,
the crystallized dancers form a white sheath on the valley floor,
as besieged life gives way and embraces earth’s transformation
of becoming one.
